Our top events of 2022

2022 is going to be packed with some amazing events, from motor racing to horse racing, to football to live music!  Here are some of our top picks for 2022!

British Grand Prix

Silverstone is one of the races that everyone looks forward to in the Formula 1 calendar.  First held in 1926, the British Grand Prix has been held annually since 1948 and has been a round of the FIA Formula One World Championship every year since 1950.  The British race is the oldest in the Formula One calendar and is rich in history.  It’s an unrivalled weekend festival of limitless fun, energy and entertainment with plenty of off-track action.  After a dramatic race between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen in 2021, we can expect no less in 2022 as Hamilton will be trying to win for the ninth time at Silverstone!

Glastonbury Festival is regarded as a major event in British culture, if not the number one event.  The festival was held intermittently from 1970 until 1981 and has been held most years since then.  Unfortunately, the latest dates had to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but we are hoping the festival will return with a bang in 2022.  Glastonbury is a five-day festival of contemporary performing arts that takes place in Pilton, Somerset.  Of course, the festival hosts a tonne of music acts, but it also hosts dance, comedy, theatre, circus, cabaret and other performing arts.  Billie Eilish is the only confirmed act at present, but we can expect hundreds more in the coming months.

FA Cup Final

The FA Cup Final is regularly one of the most attended domestic football events in the world.  Since 1923 it has been played mostly at Wembley Stadium.  Every football fan in England will dare to dream in the FA cup as the competition is open to any eligible club down to Level 10 of the English football league system.  In the 2011-12 season, a record 736 clubs competed in the competition.  The current champions are Leicester City, but who knows who will lift the trophy in 2022?

Grand National

The Grand National is a National Hunt horse race held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool.  The Grand National is what horse racing enthusiasts look forward to all year, and for good reason, as it is the most valuable jump race in Europe with a prize fund of £1 million in 2017.  The Randox Grand National Festival is not just about the Saturday showpiece race – three days of top-class racing take place from Thursday 7 April to Saturday 9 April 2022, featuring nine Grade One races, before culminating in the greatest steeplechase of them all.

Goodwood Revival

The Goodwood Revival is an event like no other.  Held over the three days at Goodwood Circuit, the festival recreates the glamour of motor racing as it used to be, the Motor Circuit comes alive for the Revival, both on and off the historic track. The only historic race meeting to be staged entirely in period dress, the Revival sees a return to the halcyon days of Goodwood as the spiritual home of British motor racing.  The festival showcases wheel-to-wheel racing around a classic circuit, untouched by more developments and relieves the glory days of Goodwood Circuit which ranked alongside Silverstone as Britain’s leading racing venue throughout its active years.  For motorsport enthusiasts, this is not a weekend you want to miss.
