A Summer of Love at Bestival
This year, at the 12th annual Bestival event, the Summer of Love is back as music lovers unite to celebrate the 20th anniversary of where it all began at the Sunday Best club.
Bestival will be held September 10-13th on Robin Hill on the Isle of Wight, featuring twenty-five stages over eight entire fields.
This is the 12th full festival event, and over the last few years it has enjoyed spectacular success among the youth community, and is particularly well known for featuring many, many bands, from different genres of music – some huge names known to all and some smaller bands, chosen by the organisers who they feel add a certain something special to the proceedings.
Without a doubt, it is one of Britain's most highly anticipated music festivals of the year and the cornucopia of talent planned for 2015 is definitely no exception. As you can see below the highlights from last year make this a very exciting proposition.
The Return of The Chemical Brothers
Some of the headline acts announced so far have certainly spiced up the anticipation – for example, The Chemical Brothers, returning from their first Bestival appearance in 2007.
The dance duo will be headlining Saturday night's festivities, and according to organiser Rob da Bank, the idea of this year's Bestival is to unite all kinds of good music, so headlining alongside them will be '80s pop sensations Duran Duran and the Jacksons, as well as fellow dance band Underworld, who are currently touring with their new album and will be headlining Thursday night.
Other acts announced so far include Jungle, Kate Tempest, White Fat Family, Tame Impala and Flying Lotus – to name just a few. These alternative bands have been added into the mix to provide something new and flavourful to the integrated music extravaganza.
The "Summer of Love" themed event will be going back to its grass roots. The Sunday Best club, and afterwards the event itself, was originally founded 20 years ago on simple aims; to listen to amazing music, make new friends, have fun and stay up all night.
It certainly seems that the organisers have kept in touch with this philosophy in the build-up to Bestival 2015. The acts have been hand-picked for their unique styles, individual flair and maverick charm which add to the "Summer of Love" – a reason for bringing all types of people and music together to celebrate in one place.
More acts and events are announced weekly soon and tickets are now on sale, so be sure to check it out www.bestival.net/.
