Formula E – London ePrix
Formula motor racing is coming to London! Battersea Park to be precise and on 2nd and 3rd July 2016 we’ll see the conclusion of the Formula E series.
Electric by name and electric by nature, the 2014/15 championship kicked off in Beijing in September and concludes in the UK’s capital.
Shown live on ITV 4 it is bound to pick up an even bigger following and the fact that it rolls into London, almost next to Battersea Heliport, has us very excited.

Motor Racing in Battersea
The 10th and final race of the Formula E inaugural season will be based in Battersea Park, and taking place on a street circuit over one day, to avoid disruption.
Mayor Boris Johnson has claimed that it will be "a fantastic feather in the city’s sporting cap." The streets will be buzzing with excitement for the final race and all eyes will be on the nation’s capital for the announcement of the sport’s first ever champion.
The last race in London will be the final chance for the FIA to pull out all the stops and really show everyone what these fantastic new cars can do.
It would be a shame to miss this once-in-a-lifetime event. Thankfully, Battersea Heliport is only a short distance from the track at Battersea Park, and it’s never been easier to fly in and out of the capital with Atlas Helicopters.
The Future is Formula E
The sport is intended to raise the profile of electric cars, both for the consumers who will be buying them for road use and the constructors who will be ploughing money into innovation and design to make these cars better and better.
The aim is to increase sales of electric cars to the general market and ignite more interest in the electric racing scene.
Judging by the climactic finish of the first race in Beijing, where Heidfeld was taken out by Prost on the last lap and Lucas di Grassi came through to win from third place, Formula E has all the thrills and spills of regular motor racing, but with the added benefit of being a greener, cleaner form of sport.
The FIA are hoping that at the end of this first season, there will be enough interest from spectators and from the constructors in the current Formula One championship to make it a multi-team event and in the future, a full-on constructors’ championship sport to rival its long-established traditional motor counterpart.
