About Wolverhampton Racecourse
As with its footballing neighbours Wolverhampton was Britain’s first floodlit racecourse. Racing began in the area in 1825 and then moved to the current location in 1888. First race meet was held on 13 August. In 1994, HRH Queen Elizabeth II re-opened the new Wolverhampton Racecourse.
