Jenkyn Place Vineyard on the Connoisseur Tour of Hampshire

With the everything arranged for you, the Connoisseur Tour of Hampshire takes you into the heart of the county’s finest producers, introduces you to their techniques and lets you question the experts.

One of our destinations is Jenkyn Place, a Hampshire vineyard that believes in quality over quantity, and produces two sparkling English wines, a Brut Cuvée and a sparkling Rosé. The vines were first planted in 2004 and with the owner taking the tour this is a first-hand experience that compliments beautifully a visit to Hambledon Vineyard.

The Operations Team will organise the whole tour and pick the best itinerary for you. Just call them on 01256 635 000

On arrival guests drive up the side of the vineyard and at the top of our oldest field of vines will meet the owner Simon Bladon who started the whole story by planting the first Jenkyn Place vines in 2004.

He’ll walk guests around the two vineyards to the west of the house, the oldest and the newest vineyard (2004 and 2010), explaining the different grape varieties planted, the cycle of the vines, and what vineyard managers have to do at each stage of this cycle, in order to allow the best quality fruit to flourish.

The vineyard is named after the house which Simon and his wife Rebecca moved into 20 years ago, and the history of the house and the land that is now under vine, will also be talked about.

Depending on the season there may be different activities in the vineyard – harvest/pruning/tying down, which our guests will be able to watch up close, and will help highlight the cycle of the vineyard.

Once the walking tour is finished the tasting can begin. This will be held within our outdoor pavilion or indoor dairy, depending on the weather. Here guests will be able to try all the wines that Jenkyn Place currently sell, and at the end they will be able to purchase wines with approx. 15%- 20% off RRP. All questions are welcome throughout the 2 hour tour.

About the Hampshire Tour

Jenkyn Place - two sparkling English wines, a Brut Cuvée and a sparkling Rosé

Every flying tour has a choice of two destinations and a meal at a fine country mansion. Leaving London at about 9am you can expect to be back at around 5pm. We recommend beginning your tour at Hambledon Vineyard but there is no strict policy as to which venue is on your list.

Flights are available from any UK location and the only stipulation is that if the return is at night there has to be a suitable, well lit landing site. Our friendly Operations team have over 15 years experience of organising helicopter charters and can arrange mobile lights if required.

At the conclusion you’ll be amazed at the distance you have covered and how refreshed you feel, plus you’ll have given your taste buds the treat of a lifetime while enriching your knowledge of the UK’s leading food and drink producers.

You Choose Your Fine Dining

The Connoisseur Itinerary begins at Hambledon Vineyard

Lunch is being served wherever you like. We have six luxury restaurants available to you via our Heli-Dining service all of which are under 20 minutes from Jenkyn Place:

All of these have a great reputation for a fine dining experience and make an ideal sojourn during your tour. If there is another hotel in Hampshire you’d rather visit just inform the Operations Team and they’ll be happy to add it to your itinerary.

The Hidden Star of the Tour

South Downs and Portsmouth aerials

The wonderful views and the new perspective are the hidden stars of this tour. Flying over the rolling South Downs with the English channel glinting in the distance; seeing landmarks such as the Devil’s Punch Bowl near Hindhead, or historic Portsmouth harbour are all on the agenda.

The helicopter gives you the freedom of movement that no other mode of transport provides, plus the timetable is moulded to fit your needs and destinations. You’ll cover a lot of ground during this tour but not spend a great deal of time in the air.

The Tour Draws to a Close

Your return to central London will be swift and on arrival chauffeured transport will be waiting to take you home, while you’ll reflect on a day of taste sensations and the knowledge that there are some wonderful people, making great products in Hampshire.
