Football fans – get ‘Up’ for the FA Cup with Atlas Helicopters
If you’re a football fan and it’s January, then that can only mean one thing – the FA Cup.
It’s that special time of year when the lower league minnows test their mettle against the Premiership millionaires in the hope of providing a memorable giant-killing.
Here at Atlas Helicopters, with our south coast base on the Solent sandwiched between Southampton and Portsmouth, we know all about the magic of the FA Cup.
Who can forget Bobby Stokes’ fantastic strike which enabled Lawrie McMenemy’s Saints to defeat mighty Manchester United and win the 1976 final? Then there was Harry Redknapp’s Pompey team who lifted the cup in 2008 with victory over Cardiff City.
This season, Portsmouth, Southampton and Premiership neighbours Bournemouth will all be dreaming of Wembley glory for the final this May with third round ties against Ipswich Town, Crystal Palace and Birmingham City.

Non-league Eastleigh Flying the non-league Flag
That south coast quartet also includes non-league Eastleigh, who have a mouth-watering third round tie against Championship outfit Bolton Wanderers at their Ten Acres ground on Saturday, January 9th.
Eastleigh’s stadium stands just a stone’s throw from Southampton Airport, which Atlas Helicopters operates out of. The club, who play in the fourth tier of English football, are known as The Spitfires, as a bow to the World War Two fighter jet which was built in Southampton and first flown from what was then Eastleigh Aerodrome in 1936.
As you can see below this is a big moment for them…
